When you roll a double, use it wisely to block off your opponent’s exit routes. A double six early in the game makes both your bar point and your opponent’s bar point. When you roll dice such as 1 and 3, 2 and 4 etc, use your checkers to close off points inside your home sector. This will serve to prevent you opponent getting his two checkers inside your home sector clear and to make it more difficult for them to retrieve a hit checker. Avoid leaving too many blots for your opponent to hit as this leaves you exposed and can cause you to lose a game especially if your opponent can hit several of your checkers quickly. If you have to leave a blot due to unfavourable dice, leave them inside your opponent’s home sector or avoid leaving them a throw of six away from your opponent’s checker. |
