Proud to be Irish counts for nothing when the tax on Internet gambling is set to rise again. This could wipe a big chunk off their operating profits and make them less competitive with otehr operators who have moved offshore. Britain's William Hill moved to Gibraltar last year and halved their tax burden. If Paddy Power does the same, they will remain competitive, but will cost jobs in their homeland. The government may have to think twice about its intended tax hike, or they could lose out altogether to a foreign treasury. |
