In the first part of this two part article on how to succeed as a gambler, we looked at some of the more common mistakes that typify losing gamblers. In this second part, we look at some of the positive and constructive gambling habits that you can take on board in order to improve your chances of gambling success. Make sure your head rules your heart and don’t allow any emotional attachment you may have for a particular team, sports player or racing colours to get in the way of a rationally executed wager. Similarly, always remain aloof to the possibility of a grudge bet, as your primary aim is to win, not to get back at somebody or some team. While it’s quite normal to want your home team to win a game, if the opposition looks the safer bet, then even if you dislike them for whatever reason, let logic decide where you’ll put your money to give you the best chance of a successful return. Know the odds and make sure your mathematical skills are up to par. The secret to winning on a consistent basis is to know what you are up against from the beginning. You do this by examining the odds and knowing the probabilities of each wager that you make rather than relying purely on luck. It’s a well known fact that all gamblers will lose from time to time as it is the true nature of the game. The trick is to make sure you only lose small while winning big, leaving you on top at the finish of each session. All successful gamblers know for sure that their fortunes can change at any moment and under any circumstances. By remaining rational and focused, you can turn this knowledge to your advantage and cut your chances of making silly mistakes that will cost you money. By looking at a roulette table rationally and knowing that it doesn’t matter how many times red comes up in a row, the next spin of the wheel still has an equal chance of producing a red or a black. While superstition may cloud the judgement of a losing gambler, a winning gambler will place their superstitions into perspective and rely instead on the cold hard odds to produce their luck. A creative gambler will always be aware of any extras that may be on offer. One of the better, albeit less understood of these perks is a casino’s comps system. Comps are the free goodies given out by casinos in an effort to keep gamblers inside once they’ve been lured onto their tables and changed up cash for chips. They are a casino’s way of saying, “Thank you for coming, please come again!” The great thing about comps is that you do not need to spend a fortune to get them. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at what you can accumulate just by playing a casino’s tables for a while. Comps are something that you will usually have to go looking for by yourself however, as the casino’s staff will not generally come looking for you but they are often well worth the extra effort to get. While gambling in brick and mortar establishments as well as online casinos that have live dealers, it is good form to tip. This is one aspect of gambling that may not improve your game or even increase your chances of winning. However, by showing gratitude to a dealer for the hard work they do under often stressful circumstances by leaving a small token of your appreciation in a tip, you set in motion a series of unseen events which will work in your favour. That is because when you leave a tip whether you won or lost, it feels good to know you’re contributing to the dealer’s own fortunes. When you feel good, you’re self esteem is higher and when your self esteem is higher, you are more positive. It’s a known fact that a gambler in a positive frame of mind is more likely to make more of the right choices than a gambler in a negative frame of mind, which means you tip the balance to winning ways. This is all part of behaving and acting like a professional gambler. A professional is one who gambles to win and when you gamble to win, you’ll win more often and see more of that success that you, as a gambler, continually strive for. So always act like a professional and you’ll find that you will inwardly become that which you outwardly appear to be. |
