While the online gambling world seems to focus most of its attention on the online gambling ban in the United States that has been in force since 2006 with the UIGEA, in Australia, a smaller yet equally vibrant potential market has been kept under the jackboot of their own version with its Interactive Gambling Act since 2001. This act rendered it unlawful for any online casino or gambling company to allow players to use real money to place bets online. |

In an act of seeming defiance in the Federal Government stand on the practise of online gambling, the State of Illinois has now declared that it is legal to place bets online in that State. The only catch is that those bets may be placed on horse racing events only. |

China Tighten Online Gambling Laws |

In response to a growing problem with foreign online gambling companies operating in the country, the regulator for online video gaming in China, the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) is currently taking steps to tighten the noose around the industry by effectively banning all forms of foreign participation in their market. This represents the potential loss of a considerable revenue stream for several Internet gambling operators who are ambitiously targeting their brands in China. |

It may be just over six weeks away, but the 1st December deadline for US banks and financial institutions to fully comply with the regulations of the unpopular UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) is racing up toward the Internet gambling community and little appears to have been done to stop it. However, all is not completely lost, at least not yet. |
