Tuesday, 15 November 2011 07:02
One of the world's leading creators and providers of online gaming software, Microgaming have launched mobile gambling software for Android powered devices, called Android Air.
The announcement made via press release on 3rd November means that the company have well and truly carved out a significant pathway into the mobile side of online gaming to compliment the huge growth in Android powered hand held devices from smart phones to tablets. Android Air is specifically compatible with such devices meaning a wider audience can now be tapped into and provided with the means to enjoy a selection of the many great games offered by Microgaming.
The software company, which has already rolled out eight of their top casino games for the new platform expects to have increased that portfolio of games and top titles to 20 before the year end. These will include top slots games, online roulette, video poker and blackjack as well as many other popular casino games.
Android Air is based on the Adobe Air application and in similar fashion to their popular Viper software, all new games will be added automatically by a connection state aware process, providing players with the choice of whether to update using WiFi rather than using 3G. All of the new games created on this platform can be accessed from a very user friendly lobby area, while the business end of registration and account management including money transfer have been given a makeover making these features slick and easy to navigate through.
Many of the tools that users are familiar with, such as Bonus Balance, Player Grouping and Communication Manager will still be accessible from Android Air via direct link to the gaming server. Their popular online VPB (Virtual PitBoss) that provides the user with trigger-based instant messaging and promotions is also available with the new platform.
Microgaming's Head of Product Channels, Neill Whyte said that for the last few years mobile gaming has played a key role in the company's strategy, while its existing product suite currently holds a very strong market share. He noted that the past year's explosion of smart phone and tablet driven gaming represents an enormous opportunity for providers. He expects Android Air to make a substantial impact on mobile gaming as well as the huge gaming industry overall.
This is not surprising since the company has one of the industry's strongest portfolios of gaming assets. Microgaming has the ability to leverage those assets to exploit the growing mobile gaming side of the business thanks to the massive growth in popularity of Android based devices.
