Seven Card Stud Strategy

With Seven Card-Stud you need to be focused on several things as the starting hand, or first three cards are dealt out to each player. Once the starting hand has been dealt with all door cards showing, you need to quickly check out all the cards before players start folding.

Count how many cards of each suit and what card numbers are showing.

Remember which player first raised the bring-in bet as well as how close they are to the bring-in position.

Show the table that you are confident to raise and re-raise and that even after re-raising you are capable of laying down a very good hand.

Having as much general knowledge about the cards on the table can determine your own actions of whether to call, raise or fold. Should the cards in your hand be live, you’ll have a better rate of success of gaining a winning result.

Should you miss reading some of the door cards around the table before they are folded, unless you have a very strong hand and no one has raised the bring-in, you should consider folding.

If your cards are not live, you should fold.

If, by the time you get to Fifth Street you are still chasing a hand and are against an aggressive better, your best option is to fold. In this case it is likely they have already made their hand and are unlikely to fold their investment in the pot when they have been aggressively betting.
