Hi everyone. This is not really a put down of the country or any people at all, but more of a parting shot at the US government who have been throwing away an unbelievable amount of money by not legislating and regulating online gambling. A new report was commissioned by UK bookmaker Ladbrokes that was conducted by Deloitte and it shows that for 2008, betting was directly responsible for the generation of an incredible £3 billion in gross value added terms and £6 billion through the industry's links with related suppliers and other sectors in the UK. With a population over four times that of the UK, imagine the amount of tax dollars that the US government have been throwing away! The mind boggles.

Sad to say, but I think the figures were depressingly high, something like $12bn or thereabouts. But hey, its all changing this year when we are back. And when we're back, watch out guys, cause we're gonna be big!

Ooh, that is a lot of money being given away. That would buy a lot of medicines and supplies for third world countries. But I bet it just ends up in someones back pocket...

Hey, never mind using the money for medicines, the US could be offsetting their huge national debt ($2.7trillion or thereabouts) with that potential revenue instead of sinking ever deeper into debt.

That really makes me sad that we're throwing away all that revenue that could be helping this country in some way. Congress needs its collective heads banging together before they'll see sense sometimes.

So yeah, like we're stupid to let this happen but what can you do? Dudes got money and wannna gamble are gonna do it law or no law and they don't care crap where the tax money goes, whether its Uncle Sam or some place in the Caribbean. Who said life was fair? |
