Hi guys, I was just reading a story about the way some experts are linking excessive use of the Internet with depression. Sounds plausible especially for gamblers who get a long bad streak. That'd cause some serious depression! Of course, ending a long bad spell with a big win would create big time exhilaration.

So if that happens a lot, does that mean you get manic depression LOL?

Man, I get depressed reading about what experts think and don't think about the way folks are meant to behave. They're all so full of self righteous crap it makes me mad!

Mate, losing is depressing in anyone's language, while winning is the reason we do this stuff!

Depression is just a state of mind created by lack of alcohol... only kiddin' ya! But yeah, I hate to lose but I love to win, so I can see why folks that lose a lot get depressed. Wouldn't you?

So like I get depressed for sure playing for long periods online. Like when I should be out you know socializing, meeting girls that kinda thing instead of being like hidden away from the world like a freak or something. Man, that's just sooo depressing...

I have to agree with that study, cause I think if you spend too much time on the Internet, you are going to get depressed cause you're missing out on too much other stuff in life, pure and simple.

Oh dear, how depressing is this post? The Internet is a wonderful tool if you use it in the way it was meant to be used - as an information highway. Sadly, most people use it for time wasting nonsense like Facebook et al, which is certainly depressing!

Man, I don't get depressed playing online and I do that for a lot of hours some days. So personally, I think that idea is like way off.

I guess it depends on the individual cause some folks are more likely to get depressed over things than other, whether its spending time gambling online or having to listen to an in-law who nags constantly...

I guess sitting indoors for hours on end in front of a computer and never seeing the light of day could be a big part of why playing online games could make you depressed. Something to do with Light Deficit Disorder that folks suffer from when they don't get enough daylight.

Light Deficit Disorder occurs when a person is deprived of natural daylight for long periods. This occurs during the winter months in northern areas especially those which see a constant blanket of heavy cloud during the already short days. I believe Britain and parts of Northern Europe are well renowned for this and ergo their citizens suffer LDD to a greater extent, leading to more lost working days due to depression than elsewhere.

The same could also be true of online gamers who spend many hours in front of a computer screen with little access to natural daylight for days on end.
