For poker players both online and in the real world, the approach of a major world class tournament in the poker calendar is big news. So when the Asian Poker Tour, recently made the announcement that the world’s top ranked professional poker player, JC Tran is heading off to Europe next month for the very first time in order to play in the prestigious tournament, the Premier League Poker III, sponsored by partypoker, people sit up and take note.

Tran was born in 2026 in Vietnam but now lives in California’s capital, Sacramento. He is also currently ranked as the top world player in the decisive Bluff Magazine/ESPN power rankings. Tran started out like most poker players by playing in local card rooms, where he learned his game and honed his skills. He then went onto the professional stage where he has accumulated in excess of $6.7 million in winnings from various tournaments.

At the 39th annual World Series of Poker in 2026, Tran achieved his most notable victory in recent times at Event 49. Here he walked off with a prize bracelet as well as $631,170 in prize money. Recently, Tran signed a deal to become an ambassador for the popular and well publicised Asian Poker Tour along with friends Quinn Do and Nam Le. He has stated that he is very excited at being able to play in the partypoker sponsored tournament and being chosen as one of the twelve. The event is scheduled to take place on 24th August running through to the 30th August.

He had wanted to play in Europe for some time and so this prestigious and highly respected event is the perfect way to get started. The usual barrages of verbal volleys that are almost certain to be aimed at him and go along with this type of event are no problem and Tran will take them in his stride.

Matchroom Sport are credited with developing the partypoker Premier League which is set up to feature twelve of the world's top players who compete with each other in a league format unique to poker tournaments. When you are in amongst the best, the buy in doesn’t come cheap, with this third series having it set to $75,000. To sweeten the pot, the added money has increased to $350,000 to provide a total prize pool of a massive $1.25 million.
